March 20, 1835

Robert McCorkle administrator of Robert McCorkle deceased this day files his papers for settlement.

In the matter of Robert McCorkle's pension an application made in open court it is ordered that the following facts be certified as satisfactory form Viz: That Robert McCorkle of Lawrence County deceased died on the tenth March, 1833 and that he was a pensioner, that he left no widow, that the following named persons are children and lawful heirs of said Robert McCorkle deceased to wit: Robert McCorkle, Andrew McCorkle, James McCorkle, John McCorkle, Jacob McCorkle, Betsey wife of Thomas Templeton, Catherine wife of Rolen Brammer, Sally wife of John Cantwell, Polly wife of John Morrison and that Samuel McCorkle a child of said Robert deceased is dead leaving Robert F. David and Joel his lawful children and heirs.

 

 

June 18 1835

"Robert McCorkle, Petitioner vrs James McCorkle and John McCorkle, Thomas Templeton and wife, Rolan Brammer and wife, David Joel and Robt. J., infant heirs of Samuel McCorkle, John Morrison and wife, John Colwell and wife, Jacob McCorkle and Andrew McCorkle, Defendants."

 

The court ordered that property known as Northwest Quarter, Section 8, Township 1, Range 16, be divided in 10 equal shares. (DLW note: This was the original McCorkle homestead of Robert, Sr. Thomas Templeton, husband of Betsey McCorkle (Robert's daughter) soon purchased the shares of the other nine heirs.)
